Assistant Accountant

Cooper Parry (previously known as Hutcheon  Mearns) are delighted to be supporting a well-known family-run Engineering business in Glenrothes in their recruitment of an Assistant Accountant on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Accountant looking to progress their career - with the opportunity of study support post-probation period! This is a key post within the organisation providing support to the Finance Manager with financial operations. This is a full-time office based role, with a 1pm finish on a Friday! The client is ideally looking for someone to start Immediately.

 

The Job Opportunity

Reporting to the Finance Manager, as the Assistant Accountant you will be responsible for:

  • Invoice processing – sales and purchases
  • Processing bank payments
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Credit credit – for a few main customers
  • VAT Returns
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Management Accounts preparation experience would be beneficial
  • Sage 50 knowledge would be beneficial, but not required as the company will be moving to Business Central at some point next year

 

The Candidate

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles
  • Competence in Microsoft Packages (Sage knowledge would be advantageous)
  • An understanding of accounts payable, receivable and bank reconciliation
  • Previous experience working to deadlines, with a keen eye for details and organisational skills
  • Experience in VAT returns would be advantageous
  • Experience in Management Accounts preparation would be advantageous

 

On Offer?

  • Salary of £30,000 - £35,000 for the right candidate
  • Study support post probation period available
  • 1pm finish on a Friday
