Our client, a prominent organisation based in North Lanarkshire, is seeking a Finance Controls Transformation Lead. This role offers the chance to work within a large, well-established business, contributing to financial process improvements and supporting strategic decision-making. The successful candidate will play a key part in driving efficiencies across financial operations, ensuring robust financial controls, and providing insightful analysis to support business growth.
Duties
- Lead significant elements of the design and delivery of the Controls workstream, taking ownership for defined workstream outputs, plans, analyses and recommendations and ensuring work progresses at pace and to a high standard.
- Lead analysis of current control and compliance effort, using activity analysis and other sources to baseline effort, diagnose friction points, identify root causes and translate findings into prioritised recommendations and delivery actions.
- Define and maintain core controls workstream artefacts including control inventories, process and control taxonomies, requirements, KPI and reporting definitions, implementation plans and governance materials.
- Shape future-state controls approaches across key finance processes, ensuring ownership, frequency, evidence requirements, escalation routes, monitoring arrangements and governance touchpoints are clearly defined and aligned to the organisation.
- Drive identification of opportunities to standardise, simplify and strengthen financial controls, applying LEAN or similar techniques to reduce manual effort, rework, chasing and approval delays while protecting control effectiveness.
Background and experience
- The ideal candidate will possess proven experience in Finance Process Improvement within a shared services environment. They should have a strong background in financial control, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Significant experience in business process analysis, controls, risk, compliance or finance transformation roles, with evidence of leading complex analytical work and shaping workstream outcomes.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, risk management and control frameworks, including control design, operation, evidence requirements, remediation activity and governance expectations within a complex business environment.
- Demonstrable ability to lead structured problem solving, process improvement and controls design activity, including the application of LEAN or similar methodologies to standardisation, waste elimination and cycle time improvement.
- A relevant qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA is desirable, alongside a solid understanding of finance processes in a manufacturing or food-related environment. Experience in large-scale organisations and familiarity with process optimisation projects will be advantageous.
