Cooper Parry Finance Recruitment (formerly Hutcheon Mearns) are engaged with an independent oil and gas producer in the UK to source an experienced Financial / Statutory Accountant to support on a 6-month contract basis. Candidates must be available to start at short notice.
The role will be responsible for supporting the preparation of statutory accounts for the various legal entities in the Group including the preparation of multiple sets of financial statements. As part of this task the role will work as part of the wider statutory accounting / reporting team to divide tasks and will take responsibility for designated statutory entities and / or accounting areas.
The role will also undertake or support a variety of technical accounting tasks on a month-to-month basis and may support the broader finance teams on technical accounting issues.
The Opportunity
- Support the preparation of group consolidated accounts in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Preparation of statutory accounts for designated legal entities in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Prepare statutory accounts packs including note disclosure analysis tables from SAP TBs to facilitate statutory financial statements completion
- Prepare or support the preparation of tax pack / analysis for legal entities and support the tax function with analysis as required
- Support audit process by responding to audit information requests
- Prepare submissions of information to the National Statistics Office
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and resolve issues identified
- Promote strong financial control environment by adhering to all policies and procedures
- Enhance and implement processes and procedures around corporate reporting to improve efficiency
- Support other ad-hoc finance projects or reporting as required
Background and Experience
- Qualified accountant (ICAS/CA trained) or working towards a qualification
- Good technical accounting background, ideally with accounts preparation experience
- Previous oil & gas accounting experience would be an asset
- Self-starter, proactive and show strong initiative
- Enjoy working in a face paced, growth orientated business
- Organisational skills, dealing with multiple priorities and high attention to detail
- Solid communication skills and team player
- Experience working to tight deadlines
