Cooper Parry Finance Recruitment have been engaged to source a Management Accountant on a full time, staff basis. This role is based in London with one day working-from-home per week. Our client is a private equity backed real estate business. This is an excellent role offering career progression, development and exposure to M&A activities.
The Management Accountant is a pivotal role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting across the business. This individual will build an efficient and robust month-end close process, improve reporting and lead typical management accounting tasks. This individual will also play a key role in embedding best practices and driving continuous improvement across accounting and reporting processes.
The Opportunity
- Review and build a strong and efficient month-end close process
- Lead and own the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
- Prepare monthly management accounts, annual accounts, and statutory reporting, including variance analysis and commentary
- Build, prepare and maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, fixed asset accounting, and intercompany transactions
- Review revenue and P&L against budget/forecast with the MDs of each group company to maintain accountability, understand performance against expectations and discuss the drivers
- Ensure reporting meets internal standards, governance requirements, and audit readiness
- Continuously review and enhance accounting processes, internal controls, and workflows
- Assist with the assessment and implementation of a new finance system
- Identify inefficiencies and implement automation, standardisation, and best practices across the finance function
- Support audit and compliance activities by ensuring documentation, processes, and controls are robust
- Lead audit evidence collection and assist with statutory accounts preparation
Background and Experience
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA) or finalist
- Experience leading month and year-end close, variance analysis and financial reporting
- Strong technical accounting skills
- Strong knowledge of Xero and QuickBooks preferable, and advanced Excel skills required
- Process improvement mindset and ability to implement robust controls and streamlined workflows
