We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manufacturing Cost Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing accurate and timely cost information to support key business decisions within a manufacturing environment. This position requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, cost accounting principles, and SAP experience.
Responsibilities
Product Costing:
- Develop and maintain accurate standard costs for all manufactured products, including raw materials, direct labour, and manufacturing overhead.
- Perform variance analysis, investigate significant deviations from standard costs, and identify root cause
- Prepare and analyse monthly product cost reports for management review
- Participate in the annual standard cost setting process
Inventory Accounting:
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure accurate valuation of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies
- Assist with month-end closing procedures, including journal entries and reconciliations related to inventory
Manufacturing Overhead Analysis:
- Analyse and allocate manufacturing overhead costs to products accurately
- Monitor and control manufacturing overhead variances
- Assist with the development and implementation of cost reduction initiatives
Prerequisites
- CIMA qualified
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing cost accounting role
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and cost accounting principles
- Proven experience with SAP in a manufacturing environment
- Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency in formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with ERP systems other than SAP
- Experience in a lean manufacturing environment
- Experience with data warehousing and business intelligence tools
SAP Experience:
- Proficient in utilising SAP for all aspects of cost accounting, including cost centre accounting, material master data maintenance, order costing, and variance analysis
- Maintain and update SAP master data as required
- Troubleshoot and resolve SAP related issues within the cost accounting area
- Process Improvement:
- Continuously review and improve cost accounting processes and procedures
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy within the cost accounting function.
- Assist with the implementation of new accounting standards and best practices
- Ad-hoc Analysis and Reporting:
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and analyses as requested by management
- Support other departments with cost-related information and analysis
