Overview of the Role
This is a key position, based in Aberdeen. It has controllership oversight for group entities across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions, including forecasting & budgeting, variance analysis, CAPEX management and detailed business reviews.
The role is responsible for providing business and financial support to the senior leadership team via an engaged business partnering approach to ensure effective profitability and free cash flow management. They will engage with operational organisations to provide business performance insights and forward looking analysis, facilitating business decision making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive financial performance through use of business insight analytics
- Develop financial business plans and forecasts, ensuring that the goals are challenging but realistic relative to overall market expectations and available resources
- Implement action plans to address profitability issues and underperforming contracts
- Optimise cash flow, including key indicators like DSO, CAPEX, inventory
- Review and examine the financial impact of new and existing investment opportunities with a view to maximising the return on investment
- Maintain control over and maximise use of working capital
- Support the Tax organisation with tax audit inquiries requiring business input, and ensure correct legal entities used for operations (sales and purchases)
- Highlight business related risks and exposures on Balance Sheet Exposure report, engaging with Shared Service Centres as needed on AR, Inventory, Fixed Assets and key provisions
Background and Experience:
- Significant experience in a senior operational finance role within a multinational/multi-entity, oil and gas environment, reporting into an overseas parent company
- Professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, CA, CPA)
- Strong hands on experience with consolidation close processes, analytics, Power BI, SAP Analytics Cloud
- Experience in oilfield services, manufacturing, product sales, projects or product service line environments is advantageous
- Strong IFRS knowledge, with practical application to revenue recognition, inventory, fixed assets, leases, provisions, impairment indicators and intercompany transactions
- Dashboard development, forecasting and predictive analytics, Real-time analytics from SAP S/4HANA and other data sources
- Advanced Excel / reporting capability and ability to convert data into concise management commentary
- High integrity, ownership mindset, accuracy and attention to detail
- Clear communicator able to influence senior stakeholders and challenge constructively
- Strong stakeholder management across Group Finance, local management, product service line teams, Tax, Treasury, SSC, auditors and advisors
- Ability to manage ambiguity, competing priorities, tight reporting deadlines and complex cross border issues
- Continuous improvement mindset with strong process discipline and commitment to sustainable controls
