Cooper Parry Finance Recruitment have been engaged by a Public Sector Body, to recruit an experienced Payroll professional into the role of Payroll Officer. This role is a rolling temporary contract, with the potential for permanent, commencing ASAP.
Role Summary:
Responsible for the delivery of an effective and efficient payroll service to the business that meets the relevant policies, procedures and statutory regulations. You will adapt and develop the service as and when required, to meet the changing needs and dynamics of the business, ensuring maximum focus on compliance, professionalism, high-quality of service and attention to detail.
Key Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate payment of employee salaries, ensuring the inclusion of all relevant information and completion by agreed deadlines
- Provide payroll data on monthly statutory deductions, pensions and other deductions as required and process payment requests for third party agencies to enable payment within agreed timescales
- Provide analysis of all submitted overtime and expenses, ensuring that the approval of these is compliant with company policy
- Update the finance system accurately with all payroll related entries in a timely manner
- Provide monthly reconciliations and comparative analysis of all payroll codes ensuring all payments and deductions have been fully accounted for
- Provide monthly submissions to pension providers for all deductions and contributions and perform all other administrative pension requirements
- Prepare the annual payroll budget based on the current and proposed establishment
- Provide testing and verification on system upgrades and configuration changes relating to all aspects of the payroll software
- Work in collaboration with internal and external customers to maintain effective working relationships and ensure contribution to business objectives
Key person specifications:
- Payroll qualification desirable
- Fully experienced in payroll administration and processing salary payments using a computerised system Working in a Revenues, Finance or Customer-focused environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer services skills with the ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders
- Excellent organisational skills
- Excellent attention to detail, ability to investigate queries, find solutions and respond in a timely manner
- A skilled user of Microsoft Office packages
